Soil Conditioning and Mulching

The Green Team offer a full range of mulching and soil conditioning for plant beds and borders.

Mixing fully composted organic matter to existing beds and borders, will enrich the soil with essential nutrients, which can become depleted over time. This process also serves to aerate the top layers of soil, thus benefitting existing and new plants.

Mulch and bark chippings can range from a basic woodland mulch used for woodland paths and tree planting schemes to a premium 65mm ornamental pine bark chippings used for large ornamental gardens and landscaping projects.

Mulching of borders, beds and tree wells have many benefits, including:

• Reduce surface evaporation from the soil
• Prevents damage to trees and shrubs from horticultural machinery
• Enhances visual aesthetics
• Improve water penetration and air movement
• Moderate soil temperature fluctuations
• Protect shallow-root plants from freeze damage and frost-heave
• Discourage weed growth
• Improve soil structure and nutrient availability as they decompose
